Marissa Ruder: Head Coach SPV 15 Elite Coaching Philosophy: “As a coach, I want to create a positive environment while teaching work ethic, fundamental skills, and a love for this game. I have a passion to help players identify and achieve their goals.” About: Marissa began playing school and club volleyball in seventh grade. She continued to play in high school and made the varsity team her junior and senior year. During these two years, Marissa’s high school team won the 5A State Championship in Kansas. She then went on to Texas A&M University, where she was the manager from 2001-2005. Her responsibilities included scouting upcoming opponents, tape exchanges, assisting with recruitment selections, stats during games, and helping the coaches during practices. This will be her third season coaching Skyline, and is looking forward to share her knowledge and passion of the game with others. Marissa is a third grade teacher in Frisco. |

Billy Bob Bates : Assistant Coach SPV 15 Elite Coaching Philosophy: “Every athlete can improve based upon their understanding of the game and their ability to perform. Positive reinforcement will always improve their performance and their self esteem. When you believe you are the best player on the court, you will play your best.” Playing Experience: Billy Bob played at the highest level of amateur volleyball for the past 30 years. This included participation in the USVBA, TAAF and various amateur tournaments in the states of Texas and New Mexico. He coached volleyball at the local level for four years in the Allen Sports Association league and the Plano Sports Association League, and coached club volleyball at the Fusion volleyball organization in 2007. At Fusion, he started as an assistant practice coach and was asked to assume the coaching responsibilities for the 15 National team. The team improved from an 80 th position to a 40 th position in the state rankings. Billy Bob also coached softball, baseball, and basketball for the past 10 years. |

Coaching Philosophy: "Improve each player individually; develop all players as a team." About Eric: Eric is starting his first season with Skyline Juniors this year. He has spent the previous five seasons with Team PSA in Plano. There he coached 13s, 14s and 15s teams for club, and elementary through high school teams in various volunteer and professional coaching positions. Eric is IMPACT and Cap 1 certified and has attended multiple coaching camps including the Rick Butler Sports Performance Volleyball Coaching Clinic and the Gold Medal Squared Coaching Seminar with Carl McGown. Eric did not play volleyball in school but became interested in volleyball as an adult and played extensively on men’s and co-ed adult teams as well as grass and sand doubles and triples in the 1990s. Eric’s volleyball playing career ended when is first child was born. His coaching career began when his youngest daughter started playing recreational volleyball when she was seven. He coached many youth teams with and without his daughters starting in 2001 and began coaching club in 2005. His oldest daughter Krista is now a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin and is youngest daughter Shannon is a freshman at Jasper High School. He has been married over 25 years to his wife Lisa. |

Jen Childers: Assistant Coach SPV 14-1 Elite Coaching Philosophy: "I am a true believer that endurance and hard work are the most important keys to being the best team out there. Defense is the second. Defense, endurance, and hard work win games. I want to provide athletes with the keys to success not only on the court, but off as well. All the while never forgetting to have fun along the way." About Jen: From Rockwall, Texas. 3 years Varsity, graduated in 2005. Played club for Skyline Juniors 5 years. Went on to continue playing at Hardin- Simmons University as a defensive specialist and hitter. While there, her team went to the conference championships for the first time in the school's history and won conference for the first time in 2006. While at HSU, was the head coach of the developmental team (ages 8-11) and the assistant of the 14's team for West Texas Heat Volleyball Club. In December, will be graduating with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from HSU. |

Philosophy: “I strive for a physically and emotionally safe environment for my girls, I urge them to have constant open communication both on the court and off, We work to improve their basic skills and knowledge of the game to make them better/smarter gamers, and I am determined to bring my players to the level of competition I know they are capable of-teaching them how to find their competitive spirit and focus it on their season.” About Kaitlyn: Kaitlyn is a native Texan, and is currently the Head Freshman Coach at Bishop Lynch. Prior to joining Skyline, she worked as an the assistant coach in DPL-St. Marks and as assistant coach for various PSA teams. She was a 4 year varsity player in high school, and is looking forward to a great first year at Skyline! |

Philosophy: “Coaching is inspired teaching. As coaches we are teachers. Our players are our students, and the gym is our classroom.” ~Will Rey, Wright State University. "I believe that practice makes perfect, confidence is something that must ALWAYS be built up, and I play to win! About Katy: Katy grew up in Bulverde, Texas and attended Smithson Valley High School. She was a four year letterman for their volleyball program and her position was setter. At the same time, Katy participated in Alamo Club Volleyball program from the ages of 11-17 and played for their top Nationals Team each year. During her attendance at Texas A&M University, Katy coached and ran clinics while home for the summers in San Antonio. After college, Katy moved home to San Antonio and worked for a year until she found work up in the DFW area. Katy was in the “corporate world” for three years when she decided that teaching was her passion. Katy is now currently teaching 7th grade Science and coaching 7th grade volleyball and track at Lake Highlands Junior High. She is extremely passionate about her new career and extremely excited about her future with Lake Highlands. Her awards for both high school and club are listed below. High School: 4 years All Academic, 4 years All District, 3 years team Captain, 3 years All City, 2 times San Antonio Express News Player of the Week, 6 times All Tournament, 1 time regional finalist, 1time area finalist, 1time regional semi - finalist, 1 time bi-district. Club: Jr. Olympic National Team 1999 - New Orleans, 3rd place Nationals -1999 - New Orleans, MVP - Alamo 15, All Tournament 4 times, Placed for Nationals 4 out of 5 years |

Scot Harmon: Head Coach 13 Elite Coaching Philosophy: “Volleyball is a sport of passion, grace and power. I love to help others find the passion, refine the grace, and grow the power.” About Scot: This will be Scot’s third year coaching at Skyline (fourth overall), and has developed a real passion for teaching the game. Scot was the assistant coach for 12 RoShamBo last year (helping them earn 19 th at nationals) as well as the head coach of 13 SPV Navy. Scot is the Junior High coach at Canyon Creek Christian Academy, and is excited about the opportunity to be the Head Coach of 13 SPV Elite. |

Kelli Rose: Head Coach 12 Elite Philosophy: “My coaching philosophy is: FUNDAMENTALS, FUNDAMENTALS, FUNDAMENTALS!Fundamentals are building blocks for any sport and without them growth in the sport cannot take place. Using team and individual drills; passing, hitting, serving, setting and defensive fundamentals will be the focus of practice. It is my obligation as a coach to enhance the knowledge and skill of my players. Athletes will learn in a positive, supportive atmosphere and be allowed to showcase their skills in practices and games while being a part of a team. Through encouragement and my own love of the game, I will assist athletes in developing a passion for volleyball as well as a desire to learn the game. My focus is on skill improvement and teamwork- not winning or losing. As long as the athletes are improving each week and each tournament, WE ARE WINNING.” About Kelli: Kelli is originally from Oklahoma and moved to Texas in 1998 after graduating from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she majored in Health/Physical Education, minored in Biology and was an athletic trainer. Kelli has been teaching/coaching in Texas for 11 years at the high school and middle school level, and is currently the Varsity Assistant/Head JV volleyball and JV basketball coach and Health teacher for North Mesquite High School. Before coming to Skyline/SPV, Kelli coached 4 years for Texas Assault 12’s and 13’s. This is her 1 st year coaching for Skyline/SPV. Kelli is IMPACT and CPR certified. |

Philosophy: “Passion persists when talent tires.” About Stephanie: Stephanie grew up competing competitively in volleyball, basketball, and soccer in the DFW metroplex. She participated on high school teams as well as club teams in all three sports. Upon graduation from R.L. Turner High School in 2001, she continued her volleyball career as a setter and libero at Pittsburg State University. After two years, she transferred to the University of Oklahoma to compete as a libero in the always tough Big 12 Conference. During her collegiate career, she was involved in coaching club volleyball as well as numerous camps and clinics. Upon returning to Dallas in 2007 Stephanie knew that she still needed to be on the court. This will be Stephanie's first year with Skyline Juniors and SPV but her second year of coaching club in the metroplex. She has been actively involved in Skyline's summer programs and coached at numerous camps this past summer in an effort to feed her passion for the game. She also currently coaches at Greenhill School in Addison. |

Coaching Philosophy: “As a coach, I believe it is important to teach and improve volleyball skills and prepare the girls to compete at a higher team level. Work hard, be positive and have fun is the key to a successful year!!” About Gladys: Gladys played volleyball in a small 3-A East Texas School as a setter for four years of her high school days. She was awarded all-tournament two out of the four years. After she graduated from college, she began her coaching career at Lake Highlands Junior High. She is currently still coaching there where she is going on to 30 years of employment and happiness as a coach. She was the Junior Varsity coach at Lake Highlands High School in 1994 and in 2003 while still continuing her duties at the junior high. She has been coaching club volleyball for 13 years where she has developed a name for herself. She qualified her 12’s team in 2003 to the Junior Olympic National Tournament. Prior to last season, her 12’s team finished among the top 4 teams in the region. Gladys qualified both her 12’s team for Skyline Juniors finishing 10 th in the Nation in 2008 and 19 th in 2009. Gladys has a very special love and passion for the game of volleyball. She enjoys using the game to help athletes learn how to better themselves on the court and in life. She is very involved with training younger athletes through club, the junior high and by spending extra volunteer hours coaching young players in various leagues and running training camps. Gladys is going into her 3 rd season at Skyline and will be coaching the 11’s team. |

Coaching Philosophy: “My coaching philosophy is based on the encouragement of all athletes to grow not only as a better volleyball player, but as a better person as well. I believe that with hard work, a love of the game and your team, and good training techniques, the athlete can improve to the best of their abilities.” About Shelby Shelby grew up in Dallas and attended W.T. White High School. She played Varsity Volleyball 3 years in High School and for her last two years was awarded All District Defensive MVP. She played both outside hitter and defensive specialist. She also played Varsity Soccer and Softball, where she gained All District awards as well. Shelby then attended Abilene Christian University and graduated with a degree in Youth and Family Ministry and now works with the Youth Group at Park Cities Baptist Church. Coach Jackson is the eighth grade A team volleyball coach at Trinity Christian Academy as well as the 7th grade soccer coach. Currently, Shelby is working on her Masters of Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. This will be Coach Jackson’s first year with Skyline and looks forward to growing in her coaching skills and encouraging athletes to grow in their skills and love for volleyball. |

Philosophy: “I believe competition is an avenue to building character, discipline, integrity, and a hard work-ethic. My goal as a coach to encourage each of my athletes while challenging them to become their best. I expect only their best and refuse to settle for mediocre.” About Megan: Megan grew up in Abilene, Texas and attended Abilene High School. She played varsity volleyball as a right side hitter and helped her team win a District Championship. She was named 2nd team All-District and nominated by her teammates to receive the Eagle Award for leadership. From there she went on to play volleyball for Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and started as a right side hitter. As a three-year captain, Megan helped lead her team to a Conference Championship for the first time in school history. She received multiple Academic All-American honors, 2 nd Team All-Conference, All-Tournament Team, and currently holds the school record for most matches played in a career. During college, Megan coached club volleyball and worked hard at obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Immediately upon graduation, Megan married her husband, Jason, and moved to the metroplex. Megan is currently teaching 7 th grade Language Arts and coaching 7 th grade volleyball, cross country, and track at Coppell Middle School East. She is passionate about coaching and pushing girls to be their best not just in volleyball, but in discipline, character, and integrity. She resides in Coppell with her husband, and two dogs, Craider and Duke. |
