Ping Cao (1958-2025)

It is with great sadness and sympathy we let you know that Coach Ping Cao lost his battle to Lymphoma early the morning of Oct 24, 2025. The volleyball world lost a legend and an incredible coach and an amazing man!

Coach Ping’s influence on the volleyball community has been transformative. From nurturing young talent in the DFW and Greater Chicago area to inspiring countless players to strive for excellence both on and off the court, his dedication to his players was unparalleled. His passion, drive, discipline, and mentorship have profoundly shaped the volleyball community into what it is today. 

Skyline Juniors Volleyball Club and Texas Advantage Volleyball Club, in conjunction with Coach Ping Cao’s family will be co-hosting a memorial event to celebrate Ping’s contributions to the wider volleyball community. The date, time, and location will be announced in the coming weeks to accommodate those traveling from out of town.

Funeral & Obituary

  • Coach Ping’s family will be hosting a private funeral service on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home.

Memorial Fund

  • Coach Ping’s family has set up a memorial fund that will be aimed at creating a lasting memorial or initiative that celebrates his love for the game and the people in it. Once plans are finalized, his family share updates on how the funds will be used to keep his influence alive in the volleyball community.

Tribute Video and Messages for the Family

  • To help Ping’s family preserve and celebrate his life, we are inviting members of the volleyball community to share their memories, stories, photos, and videos of Coach Ping.
